A councillor training programme that helped Wyre Forest DC secure over £1m in savings has been awarded the prestigious charter mark ‘exemplar' award for member development.

The Worcestershire-based council recognised several years ago that many of its councillors did not have sufficient knowledge of complex financial issues and set out improving their understanding of budgeting, efficiencies and finance flows.
