Malvern Hills DC has voted to leave the Worcestershire business rates pool next April because remaining in it was deemed to pose too much of a risk to the council's finances.

The move comes after a number of GP surgeries made successful appeals to the Valuation Office Agency against the value given to their property in 2005 and 2010, which has cost Malvern Hills DC a one-off payment of £1.2m and £160,000 a year ongoing.
