Manchester City Council's director of children's services has quit his post, following a damning Ofsted report last month. 

Announcing his decision to step down, Mr Livingstone said: ‘Through a period of significant spending reductions imposed on local authorities we have protected services which safeguard the city's most vulnerable children and reformed how these services are delivered.'
