Manslaughter law change

The potential prosecution of senior council managers for corporate manslaughter moved one step closer this week with the second reading of a government Bill.

The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Bill came before the House of Commons on Tuesday, and could become law by next year. Eversheds partner, Kevin Elliott, said if the Bill became law it would be the first time such an offence had made it on to the statute books.
