Marmot launches health equality report

One of the leading centres for health inequalities research has urged businesses to work with councils and public and third sector organisations to improve people's wellbeing – and improve productivity.

Led by Professor Michael Marmot, Director of University College London's Institute of Health Equity and author of several Government reviews on the topic, a review of health inequalities published today is described as ‘a roadmap for the role of industry in levelling up'. It notes that 30% of the productivity gap in the Northern Powerhouse region is estimated to be down to ill-health.
