New LGA chair Louise Gittins tells Paul Marinko how she plans to pick up the pace to net the sector’s key asks of Sir Keir Starmer’s new administration

It had clearly been a manic week for the Local Government Association's (LGA) new chair Louise Gittins when we met at the organisation's Westminster HQ, but far from showing signs of fatigue she was instead raring to go.

Hot off a call with new deputy prime minister and local government secretary Angela Rayner, the Cheshire West & Chester Council leader was keen for the sector to match the frenetic pace of change promised by the incoming Government.
