Maude condemns 'futile' pensions strike

Health workers, lecturers, immigration staff and civil servants are taking part today in a 24-hour strike over planned pension reforms.

Health workers, lecturers, immigration staff and civil servants are among up to 400,000 public sector workers taking part today in a 24-hour strike over planned pension reforms.

The scale of the nationwide industrial action is smaller than last November's, when up to 1 million public sector workers – including town hall staff – participated and only 13% of schools remained open in England.
