Mayor will block vote to stop fire station closures

London mayor Boris Johnson pledges to use powers to override vote rejecting plans to close London fire stations.

London mayor Boris Johnson has announced he will use his powers to override a vote passed by the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) over plans to close London fire stations.

Earlier this week, members of LFEPA voted to reject an additional £45m of cuts which would see a dozen fire stations close.
