Mayoral candidates step up

Candidates eligible to stand in the London Mayoral election and contest seats on the London Assembly were announced this morning by London Elects.

Candidates eligible to stand in the London Mayoral election and contest seats for the London Assembly were announced this morning by London Elects.

Incumbent Boris Johnson is standing for the Conservative Party, former mayor Ken Livingstone is the Labour Party's candidate and Brian Paddick is the choice of the Liberal Democrats.

Other candidates for the London Mayor elections, which take place 3 May include Siobhan Benita (Independent), Carlos Cortiglia (British National Party), Jenny Jones (Green Party) and James Lawrence Webb (Fresh Choice for London).
