Mayoral thumbs-up for Liverpool 'city deal'

Liverpool City Council welcomes 'city deal' brokered with ministers transferring economic and housing powers.

Liverpool City Council has welcomed its ‘city deal', which includes an additional £75m and powers from the DCLG to establish the first Mayoral Development Corporation outside London.

Cities minister, Greg Clark, said both moves towards a directly-elected mayor and the
board, which will oversee thecity's economic and housing strategy, satisfied government requirements for strong governance, leadership and accountability.
