The campaign for a Liverpool mayor has welcomed the White Paper's commitment to directly elected mayors.

‘Accountable, visible local leadership is at the heart of this White Paper,' said campaign chairman, Liam Fogarty. ‘It will inevitably lead to more directly-elected mayors.'
