A new software glitch afflicting the switchover to Individual Electoral Registration means voting watchdogs will not recommend an early end to the transition process, MPs were told this week.

Giving evidence to the House of Commons' political and constitutional reform committee on 2 March, Jenny Watson, chair of the Electoral Commission told MPs a new IT problem was preventing electoral registration officers (EROs) generating automatic reports on the number of voters lost during the historic transition from household registration to IER.
