Media's 'fat cat salary' claim rejected

Councils have challenged claims that recent increases in charges for local services are designed to protect senior staff salaries.

Reports in the national media claimed local authorities had used local charges for services such as parking and meals on wheels to protect ‘fat cat' salaries among the sector's highest-earning officials.
