Councillors in Wakefield MDC who do not fulfil the basic duties of their role could soon see all or part of their financial allowances removed from them.

At a meeting last Wednesday, the council voted unanimously to ask the independent remuneration panel, which sets members' allowances, to consider ‘whether part or all of the basic allowance should be withdrawn from those members who are not properly fulfilling their responsibilities'.
