The next government should merge pensions and adult care into a single new Whitehall department, pensions minister Steve Webb has urged.

The next government should merge pensions and adult care into a single new Whitehall department, pensions minister Steve Webb has urged.

Speaking at a Resolution Foundation event Mr Webb, the longest-ever serving pensions minister who has held the post since 2010, called for a new Department for Pensions and the Ageing Society.

He told the event that pensions policy was split between several government departments, the DWP, the Treasury, DCLG and health and ‘we need to see the person, not the policy.'
