There are few chief executives who can look out their window to the childhood haunts where they grew up. But, from his Birkenhead office in the civic centre at Wirral MBC, Eric Robinson can indeed glance across the Mersey flowing below and see the distant panorama of his youth, ‘where I used to live'.
