Former Conservative Party chairman Liam Fox has claimed metro mayors are for ‘failing urban authorities' in the North and not for the rest of England.
In an online video, the North Somerset MP said he was ‘fundamentally opposed to the idea' of a metro mayor for his region, which he said would be recreating the old Avon County Council by ‘stealth'.
