Local authorities are being forced to spend more money looking after some migrant communities, councils in the East Midlands have said.

Changes to central government policy are forcing local authorities to spend more money looking after some migrant communities, councils in the East Midlands have said.

A report by the East Midlands Councils group on the impact of international migration in the region claims that while it is generally good for the local economy, the cost of caring for some migrant communities has shifted from Whitehall down to local level, without any additional financial support.
