Labour leader Ed Miliband kicked off his party's bid to win more seats in local government this morning, with a speech which attacked central government over tax, policing and the NHS.

Labour leader Ed Miliband kicked off his party's bid to win more seats in local government this morning, with a speech which attacked central government over tax, policing and the NHS.

Launching his party's local elections campaign in Birmingham, Mr Miliband accused David Cameron of 'abandoning' middle Britain in favour of protecting party donors, and 'raising taxes for pensioners but cutting them for millionaires'
