One million more British people donate to charity

New figures reveal the number of people giving money to charity increased by more than one million last year.

The number of people giving money to charity increased by more than one million last year, while the average amount donated per month fell only slightly, new figures reveal.

The UK Giving 2011 survey, undertaken by the Office for National Statistics and published on 2 December, shows that £11bn was donated throughout 2010/11, a broadly-comparative figure with the previous year.
