Let's mind the Cap

As London Councils gathers for its annual conference, Ben Page says the removal of the HRA cap is good news - but Londoners still have expectations about the ‘where‘ and the ‘what’ of new housing,

The Government's revelation that the HRA borrowing cap is to be removed is good news for local government. That London housing is in crisis is not in question. Some 81% of Londoners agree. Housing affordability trails only behind Brexit and crime in Londoners' concerns. For renters (especially in the private sector), beyond affordability itself, it remains the number one priority.

There is also significant concern about the lack of social housing. Property as a foreign investment is also on many Londoners' radars.
