Mining towns to get £750k

Historically-deprived former mining towns will receive a £750,000 boost from the CLG after ministers agreed measures designed to ease the impact of the recession.

On the 25th anniversary of the UK-wide miners' strike, local government minister John Healey has published details of a new round of coalfield support funding, taking total government investment through the programme to over £500M.
