Local government minister Marcus Jones has attempted to reassure counties by confirming a devolution deal can be struck without an elected mayor or county governor.

Local government minister Marcus Jones has attempted to reassure counties by confirming a devolution deal can be struck without an elected mayor or county governor.

In one of his first public appearances since his appointment to the role, Mr Jones said a mayor was not a ‘requirement or deal breaker' for non-metropolitan areas.
