Local elections should go ahead in May, constitution minister Chloe Smith has insisted amid rising concerns over safety during the pandemic.

Local elections should go ahead in May, constitution minister Chloe Smith has insisted amid rising concerns over safety during the pandemic.

Ms Smith has vowed to keep the Government's current position on the polls ‘under review'. She told Parliament: 'Any change would require very careful consideration, including by this House, and would need to be based on robust evidence.'
