Ministers announce sites of eight nuclear power plants

Ministers have published plans to build nuclear power stations at eight sites in the U.K.

Ministers have today published plans to build nuclear power stations at eight sites across the country, alongside an interim report on lessons learned from the Fukushima meltdown in Japan this March.

Locations identified as suitable for generating nuclear power by 2025 are Bradwell, in Essex; Hartlepool in Durham, Heysham, Lancashire, Hinkley Point, Somerset; Oldbury, south Gloucestershire; Sellafield, Cumbria, Sizewell, Suffolk and Wylfa, Isle of Anglesey.
