The Government has backed down on its threats to councils over bin collections, as it published the delayed waste policy review this week.

The Government has backed down on its threats to councils over bin collections, as it published the delayed waste policy review this week.

Under the new light-touch plans, unveiled by environment secretary, Caroline Spelman, councils will be able to opt into agreed standards of services. Incentive schemes to boost recycling, will also be at the heart of the proposals.
