Ministers blast county over 'failures to protect children'

The Welsh Government has accused Pembrokeshire CC of lacking ‘rigour and urgency' over its attempts to safeguard children.

Education minister, Leighton Andrews, and deputy social services minister, Gwenda Thomas, wrote to the council leader, Cllr John Davies, last week, and said the authority had failed to recognise the gravity of the situation after two damning reports by schools inspectorate, Estyn, and the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales, into the county's child protection services.
