A ministerial-led study into the August riots is poised to recommend a renewed focus on early intervention efforts aimed at preventing young people joining gangs.

Addressing problem families where children are at risk of drifting into the ranks of gangs will form a key plank of the broad anti-gang strategy jointly-led by Home Secretary, Theresa May and Iain Duncan Smith, the Works and Pensions Secretary.
