Ministers have launched a competition to identify which councils are using their procurement processes to best support small local businesses.

A joint letter penned by Lord Young of Graffham, the prime minister's enterprise adviser and communities secretary Eric Pickles, urges councils to submit entry forms by the 22 February to showcase how good their authority is at supporting local firms.
