Ministers have urged council leaders to drive through plans for a City Deal for Cardiff ahead of talks to be held on Thursday - despite doubts on affordability.

Ministers have urged council leaders to drive through plans for a City Deal for Cardiff ahead of talks to be held on Thursday.

The news comes as secretary of state for Wales, Steve Crabb, met with top business leaders from the Cardiff capital region to advance plans for the City Deal for Cardiff.

Last month an official Cardiff City Council report, raised doubts over its contribution to a City Deal, warning the authority could find that its contribution was ‘unaffordable' in the current financial climate.
