Groups of councils will be encouraged to form 'local nature partnerships' with communities and businesses in order to bolster conservation efforts,under plans published today by the Government.

Ministers claim the partnerships will strengthen joined-up action across local agencies and are likely to mirror Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs).
