Minister's vows 'second wave' of city autonomy

Decentralisation minister, Greg Clark, vows to embark on a second wave of 'city deals' – going beyond the core of eight city-regions.

Decentralisation minister, Greg Clark, has vowed to embark on a second wave of ‘city deals' – going beyond the initial core of eight English city-regions – to usher in a new age of civic autonomy.

Speaking at the launch of the Centre for Cities annual assessment of urban centres, Mr Clark said measures contained in the Localism Act were the ‘foundation, not the capstone' to the coalition's decentralisation commitments.
