Minister's warning as online transparency deadline looms

Communities secretary, Eric Pickles, has warned around 150 councils they have just a few days left to meet his deadline to publish online all local spending worth above £500.

Mr Pickles has set a 31 January deadline for councils to be more transparent with their spending, and has already seen at least 200 councils put their details online so that members of the public can see how local cash is spent by their town hall.
