The 2016/17 financial year ‘looks nigh on impossible' for a number of councils, the chief executive of The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy has warned.

Speaking at The MJ Future Forum conference on Friday (March 28), Rob Whiteman said 2015/16 would be ‘very difficult' but the following year appeared even harder.
