A lively workshop on adult social care featured presentations from Sarah Pickup, president of the association of directors of adult social services, and John Baker, head of social care at Ernst & Young.

While delegates expressed support for Andrew Dilnot's care funding proposals, some suggested the economist's report should not be viewed as a panacea because the proposals could solve the problem of individuals' care funding, but would not necessarily add to the quantum of local government cash.
