Weak legislation governing park homes – residential ‘mobile' homes – has left the sector vulnerable to widespread and ‘serious criminality', MPs heard this week.

The Commons communities and local government committee were told councils have neither the resources to fully inspect park home sites, or the powers to enforce appropriate standards. Park home residents, many of which are either elderly or disabled, also described campaigns of intimidation and harassment from site owners that left them ‘living in fear'.
