'Old model' makes a return at East Herts

The council which hit the headlines when it replaced its chief executive with three directors has scrapped the initiative and returned to the old model.

East Hertfordshire DC has appointed ~Anne Fisher~ as its new chief executive after internal wrangling last year between two of the three directors who were put in place following the council restructure in 2002. In 2004, one of the three, ~John Lovell~ retired, but the remaining two, ~Rachel Stopard~ and Miranda Steward, continued to run the council. Their working relationship appears to have broken down and Ms Steward lodged an official grievance against Ms Stopard (The MJ, 1 December 2005).
