Five models for joint working

In the second of our series on shared services, Judith Barnes looks at the collaborative models available to local authorities

Local authorities working together and delivering services on behalf of other authorities is not new. For example, a number of highways agency agreements date back years. There are several models which are available within the collaborative umbrella, including: l sharing assets, eg, neighbourhood premises for local authority and healthcare services l seconding staff and/or joint appointments.
