Five local authorities see their credit ratings downgraded by Moody's, following the agency's decision to alter UK gilts.

Five local authorities have seen their credit ratings downgraded by Moody's, following the agency's decision to alter UK gilts to AA1.

The move – which affects Birmingham City Council, Cornwall CC, Guildford BC, Wandsworth LBC and Lancashire CC – also impacts 26 housing associations with Moody's claiming reductions in housing benefit revenue would put significant stress on the sector.
