Most councils force all households to pay council tax, poverty group reports

The majority of councils in England now require all households to make some contribution to their council tax bills, regardless of income, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation has claimed.

The majority of councils in England now require all households to make some contribution to their council tax bills, regardless of income, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation has claimed.

In a report published on 2 April, the third sector group said 244 councils now require all households to pay at least some council tax, regardless of income – an increase of 15 from last year.
