Most Londoners seek capital improvements from councils, not mayor

Over half of Londoners believe their council is more responsible for improving their city than mayor Boris Johnson.

Over half of Londoners believe their council is more responsible for improving their city than mayor Boris Johnson, according to a survey indicating a strong belief in localism.

Based on a sample of 506 adults, some 53% of the capital's residents rated their council as having a greater influence over living standards, compared with 42% who felt the mayor played a larger role.
