Most NHS service contracts for 2015-16 'remain unsigned'

Many contracts between local health commissioners and NHS trusts still remain unsigned for the next financial year, as tighter budgets have an impact on agreeing prices for services, it has emerged.

Many contracts between local health commissioners and NHS trusts still remain unsigned for the next financial year, as tighter budgets have an impact on agreeing prices for services, it has emerged.

Julie Wood, chief executive of NHS Clinical Commissioners, said that the ‘huge gap' between commissioner and provider positions in many contract negotiations had arisen because there was ‘no spare money in the system to close down contracts' this year.
