Government plans to create a minimum price for alcohol will not solve the problem of binge drinking on their own, council bosses have warned.

Chairman of the Local Government Association's safer and stronger communities board, Cllr Mehboob Khan, said the proposed alcohol strategy, which was announced last week, was a ‘step in the right direction', but also needed to be part of a wider range of measures.
