Campaigning MP Stella Creasy has called for councils to be given legal power to limit the number of ‘payday loan' shops in their boroughs.

Speaking to The MJ, the Walthamstow MP, who has been campaigning for greater regulation of what some critics have dubbed ‘legal loan sharks', said local authorities should be able to regulate the number of payday lenders in the same way they could limit betting shops.
