MP red-flags 'large-firm' provider culture

Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude has called for an overhaul of service-commissioning to avoid contracts being awarded to an oligarchy of large firms.

Giving evidence to the Public Administration Select Committee on the final day of its inquiry into the Big Society, Mr Maude said: ‘It is too easy to do risk-averse big contracts with minimum turnover requirements, which exclude a lot of smaller providers.
