MPs demand clarity on cuts to services

Parliamentary spending watchdog says local authorities must explain to residents what services will be cut in the next Spending Review.

Local authorities must explain openly to residents what services they might have to cut in the next Spending Review period, a parliamentary spending watchdog has reported.

The call for transparent dialogue is contained in a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report into the National Audit Office's (NAO) study from January, into the financial stability of local authorities.
