MPs use finance excuse to block Lords housing amendments

The Government has overruled several key amendments to the Housing and Planning Bill agreed in the House of Lords on the grounds of financial privilege.

The Government has overruled several key amendments to the Housing and Planning Bill agreed in the House of Lords on the grounds of financial privilege. 

A significantly changed bill was passed back by the House of Lords to the House of Commons yesterday to kick off what is known as ping pong - where legislation goes back and forth between the two until an agrrement is reached on the exact wording.
