MPs hail NHS improvements – despite fall in productivity

Investment in the NHS is delivering a better service, but the taxpayer is getting less value for money, according to MPs

Investment in the NHS is delivering a better-quality service, but the taxpayer is getting less in return per pound, according to the Public Accounts Committee.

The committee found investment increased by 70% from £60bn in 2000 to £102bn in 2011, and had delivered ‘significant improvements in performance', particularly in waiting times and cancer and heart services.
