MPs propose CTB amendments

Opposition to coalition plans for the localisation of council tax benefit has been expressed in a series of amendments.

Opposition to coalition plans for the localisation of council tax benefit (CTB) has been expressed in a series of amendments tabled to the Local Government Finance Bill - which held its third and final day before a Committee of the whole House of Commons today.

Among the proposed changes are powers to alter the requirements of local schemes, which would deny the secretary of state's ability to prescribe how local council tax support schemes should operate.
