MPs back scrapping of wellbeing boards

Council chiefs 'fundamentally disagree' with the scrapping of health and wellbeing boards as part of recommended NHS reforms.

Council chiefs fundamentally disagree with the scrapping of health and wellbeing boards as part of recommended NHS reforms outlined by a Commons health committee report this week.

Cllr David Rogers, chair of the Local Government Association's (LGA) community wellbeing board, told The MJ the committee had ‘got it wrong' in stating health and wellbeing boards did not need to be created, as a result of their recommendations on NHS commissioning. He said: ‘I think the main point here is to have the health and wellbeing boards as strong as possible, so there is democratic accountability.
